worst day of work thusfar

March 30th, 2006 1 Comment »

well, today has completely sucked so far at work. and i’m just about halfway done with my shift. huzzah.

before i go into that though, i had a good day yesterday with brad an jana stocking the bars and the store. we got to go into all the bars and see what was needed and then go to the warehouses and pull it. it doesn’t sound glorious, but we had a good time. then last night i went to brad’s to watch empire records with him and alia. it was great, i had to bring my own tv, since brad doesn’t have a dvd player yet, and i just got a tv/dvd player combo. i did get some weird looks and some people asked why i was going somewhere with my own tv, but when i told them where i was going it all made sense to them. empire records was awesome, as usual. and i got brad and alia to eat about half of the chocolate mousse pie that i had left, so that’s cool.

so today didn’t start out so bad, i had milk prep, which consists of making the delicious (so i hear) powdered milk into liquid goodness for the rest of town. i then made the scary bug juice called raro that everyone seems to love. i won’t drink it, its like koolaid. if it doesn’t have to be refrigerated i feel like i don’t really need to be drinking it. then i went on to scrub some pots for a while. that’s where it all began.

we call our pot sanitizer “slim”, so we rinse the pots into the garbage disposal, then we soak them in another sink, then we scrub them, rinse them, and stack them onto racks to get put through slim. well, every meal shift the temperature has to be recorded on slim when it goes through the last rinse cycle. so during lunch, while i was in there, i thought i’d be good and record the temperature. so, i thought i was getting there too slow because i was always missing the temp going up. turns out though that slim was merely not going through all three cycles. nay, he was only going through two cycles, so i wasn’t too slow, but i wasn’t sanitizing anything either. so i went to find angie and she watched the gauges as well (the most exciting 2 and a half minutes of her life, as she put it) and realized that slim was indeed not working as he should be. she called in a work order and fox came in to fix it. well, come to find out one of the knobs had to be turned on and hadn’t been. curious, since somehow the morning temp reading was done and within the required temp. hmmmm.

so then, it was my duty to clean the coffee pots out. a weekly deep cleaning item. not such a bad thing, until we tried to brew some coffee for the 3pm break and something wasn’t done quite correctly in putting everything back together, and there was a lovely overflow of coffee onto the counter and floor all over the place. sandy and mandi were nice enough to help me clean up, and then sandy thought we’d try the urn somewhere else and see what happened. well, then it started to overflow there as well, though we caught it earlier. good times. we were missing a part on the pot that controlled the water flow apparently. long story short, what should have taken an hour to do took closer to two hours and was very incredibly messy for all those involved. i never want to clean the urns again.

now i’m on break for a few minutes, and then its time for family meal. hopefully it’ll be slow tonight since burger bar is going on and its a 2-day weekend. tomorrow should be slow as well, since burrito bar will be going on for breakfast. i’m excited, i have sunday off, so i think james and i are going to watch lord of war before everyone else comes over to watch office space, since he’s all up in arms that we haven’t watched a movie that he wants to watch yet.

in other annoying news, before i forget, my schedule is changing. oh yes my friends. instead of coming to work at 11am, i have to be in at 5:30 so that i can eat before i start work at 6am. i’m annoyed as hell. i’m having such a hard time sleeping that i’m really not looking forward to having to get up that much earlier. my body has been through so much that i really would like to just get a handle on what’s going on. looks like that won’t happen anytime soon.

tonight i get a thai massage from rachael, so that should be pretty awesome. i can’t wait for that. i’ve yet to use the other massage that i got for my birthday, i’m saving that for when i’m really really hurting.

okay, i should go grab some dinner before i have to work again. take care all!

nothing too exciting

March 28th, 2006 2 Comments »

well, its come around to a day off again. i actually have time to post something, and perhaps some new pictures as well!

last week i got another GREAT birthday present, from phil who works in crary lab….i got an erebus crystal! its a crystal that was formed in mt. erebus (the volcano “near” here), and can only be found here or at mt. kenya in africa. i was shocked, and very happy to receive such a gift!

last tuesday i worked in crary with sandy on our GA day, and that was fun. inventory! yessssssssss. then thursday jana and i worked at the BFC (berg field center) with della and jen. we were going through emergency bags and making sure they were up to snuff for the winter, and then we got to do more inventory. this time it was tools and such. my hands were filthy by the end of it all.

thursday evening i had signed up to go to dinner at scott base down the road. it was awesome. we had roast beef and real mashed potatoes. the best part though was the dessert. we had apple strudel and REAL whipped cream. it was really nice to sit down family style and eat as well. there was about 20 of us. there are 14 of them on base in the winter, so its very casual and nice. another really cool thing about scott base is that you have to take your boots off when you get there. its really cool, make sure you have cool socks on!

after dinner i had planned to come home and do some laundry (it was desperately needed) but ended up going over to brad’s to watch a movie. i started the laundry before i left, and since he said that he needed to be in bed by 9:30 i figured i’d have time to finish my laundry. instead we watched i <3 huckabees with alia (until she went to bed, she has to work early…she’s crazy). that went a bit longer than 9:30, to say the least. after that brad got some unpacking done, and we tried to figure out a way to mask the ugliness of his room with fabric. we may have come up with something, but its all up to him in the long run.

lets see, nothing very exciting happened over the weekend, i worked. we watched super troopers for last sunday night’s movie night. that was good, only a few of us had seen it. the vast majority of folks hadn’t seen it at all. i went to church sunday morning , there’s talk of having me sing for them so that they actually get people to go in and sing as well.

monday i had the morning off, i had comp time that had to be used, and so i used it to go to medical and get checked out. i haven’t been feeling horribly great, and i’ve been exhausted lately, sleeping up to 14 hours a night and its still not even remotely enough. so they did some blood work, and everything came back looking normal, so the verdict is i’m still getting over being sick (it takes a long time to recover down here) and i’m still adjusting to sleeping at nights again. so i’ve started taking a multi-vitamin, and taking melatonin at night as well. we’ll see how this concoction works out.

monday night we had a VIP showing of waiting, because troy loves the movie so much. he couldn’t wait until next week to reshow it, so the galley staff and the rec staff watched it together in the lounge. good times, what a great movie.

yesterday was more work in crary with sandy, and then last night i took it easy. watched a bit of backdraft with troy while we sipped some margaritas. then i played some ping pong with KB and jana. it was a lot of fun. i headed over to the galley after that to return some old dishes of mine, and ran into brad along the way. he was returning his (not crusty like mine) galley dishes as well. i was impressed that they were coming back in so quickly. he has habit of growing science projects in them and then returning them to us, claiming that we like to scrub them clean. i go apeshit when i hear that, which is why i think he brings them back during the night now. in any case, he needed powdered milk for the coffeehouse, so we went to get that, and then dropped it off to nick (who loves TMBG) at the coffeehouse. then it was off to bed for me!

today i’ve done nothing, and its great. i’m going to help karen up at the greenhouse later (i can’t wait, i MISS trees and greenery already), and then i’ll work an hour for rachael so she can go to the bodies in balance class. after that i’m going to german class and then BINGO after that. its birthday bingo, so i play for free because my birthday was this month. next week starts belly dancing classes. i’m getting back into the busy groove!

oh! i almost forgot! i won a tv/dvd combo today as well. they JUST came in on the vessel this year, and they’re finally inventoried, so that’s cool. that’s really all i have to report as of right now. more soon, i hope.

 hope you all are well!

birthday on ice!

March 19th, 2006 7 Comments »

wow, what a weekend! firstly, i actually got some extra SLEEP when we fell back from daylight savings instead of getting an extra hour of WORK. first time for that in 6 years, and it sure felt good. other than that it was actually a pretty relaxed weekend.

sunday nights have become movie nights in our dorm lounge. last night we watched Waiting. oh my goodness, everyone was DYING, it was great. we had almost 20 people there, almost 10% of the population. it was so much fun. everyone is still talking about the movie and quoting it today.

this morning i got up early so that i could call my family for them to wish me a happy birthday. i know, they should be calling me, but they can’t, so i called them. we talked for about 2 hours, and i got to talk to everyone, mom, dad, jacob and brendon. it was great. i missed them all a lot this morning when i woke up and it was really great to get to talk to them. they were headed out to the corner pug to have dinner in honor of my birthday tonight. i hope they have something good for dinner!

then i opened my birthday card from susan. thank you so much! you’re so sweet to send me off with a birthday card. i love it!

i headed over to work and then realized that today is the day we’re taking the winterover picture, so i headed back to my room to grab my snow pants because i knew i’d be outside for a while. on my way over the first time troy was outside doing the food pull and screamed happy birthday to me from the back dock. how sweet =)

then i was getting ready to have lunch (we had greek food today) and shane had falafel ready for me! i had sent over 2 boxes that i found in skua, and shane was nice enough to make them for me. that was awesome. there was definately enough to share, so he put out a pan for just the galley folks and i saved some for brad as well.

as i was sitting down eating lunch the DA’s handed over to me a present. how totally unexpected! they all chipped in and bought me a one-hour massage from anita, the laundry woman/hairdresser. she’s also a trained masseuse! how amazing. so i had my delicious lunch and then treated myself to a green frosty boy ice cream cone with sprinkles.

then, i was going back into the kitchen and cut through the bakery like i usually do. everyone was gathered around in there, and i couldn’t figure out why, since we were all late going to work anyways. then i saw the pan of biscuits, bowl of whipped cream and pan of strawberries sitting there. troy had hit me up last week trying to find out what my favorite dessert was, and i told him strawberry shortcake with biscuits and whipped cream. he made fun of me for the biscuits thing, but apparently he got what he wanted. i was totally suprised and so happy. sandy had brad come back and have some as well, and we got some good pics in the kitchen of us breaking all these rules and eating back there and whatnot. angie came to shoo us out, and so we went out to finish celebrating.

its been great, everyone here is so sweet, i love it. i really thought the day would just go by as a normal day with people just wishing me well, and maybe a card from everyone. i’m really touched that they went through so much trouble to make my day special.

we worked for a bit, then went down to the helo pad to get our group shot taken. its a gorgeous day (i ordered that up special) and it went pretty well, we were done fast. hopefully they’ll get those up soon and i can post them here as well.

that’s all for now, i’m sure that i’ll have more to say as the day progresses. the firemen invited me upstairs for a carbomb after work, so we’ll see how that goes. tomorrow is an early work day for me, so if i get out too late it won’t be happening.

more soon!

happy st. pats!

well, some of you may or may not have noticed but my site was down for a few days. this was due to moving everything to a professional server so that i didn’t keep having outages. i would like to apologize for any undue stress this may have caused you all. i would also like to thank kevin for taking care of this all for me, as i don’t really know what i’m doing with this website other than posting stuff on it.

let’s see…what can i update you on? i’m almost fully recovered now. i still have the remnants of a cough, but that’s going away quite nicely.

i finally have my room up and in order. for the most part. i still have some decorating to do, but the main stuff is put up and everything is now put away that should be put away.  i’ve acquired some good stuff this past week in skua, one of these things is a great purple fleece blanket that i have on the spare bed in my room. i’ve converted it to a couch and put a nice orange throw over it.

other items i have skua’d:

-a pair of work boots

-a pair of keen sneakers. i love them.

-a journal

-some books to read

-some magazines to cut up

-a set of purple flannel sheets!!!

-fabric for brad

-a caboodle for rachael (she really wanted one like deb in napoleon dynamite)

-a humidifier for simone

-a cape for jana

-a cute hat for jana

-some posters - jim morrison, traveling wilburys and 2 bob dylan posters.

in other news we played a mean game of scrabble this week. one of the guys we were playing with asked if “gymen” was a word, since “men” was down on the board. i looked at him like he had three heads and then said “you mean like hymen with a G instead of an H?” he said “ohhh…hymen, that’s what i think i mean” i said “vagina and hymen are two totally different things!” his response was beautiful….he said to me “i’m a plumber, not a scholar.” i’d love to tell you who played, but i’m protecting the identity of the plumber in question.

we played scrabble down at the coffee shop, and then after that we played a game of Battle of the Sexes. i’ll save you the horrid details and just tell you that the women won. and the men were upset that i knew what a 2-banger was. they didn’t want to ask sports questions because they thought i’d know them all. i didn’t, but that still didn’t help them win. ah well, they want a rematch i think.

well, today is st. patrick’s day down here! i didn’t have to work today, but i did volunteer in the rec department to help KB put the new rec board up. and also to annoy brad for most of the day. though he admitted at the end of the day that it was nice to have me around. i just kept yelling at him for not wearing green. i guess those italians don’t like to party on march 17th. ah well.

there’s a party tomorrow night for st. pats, but i’m probably going to head down to the bar and party tonight as well.  i have to work in the morning, but not til 11.

i guess not much else is new and exciting down here. oh, i learned how to make granola, that’s about it. its been a pretty slow week, but that’s a good thing. i guess i’m starting to actually realize that i’m totally stuck here until at least august. (i’m here til october, but august is when the first flights start coming in). i’m looking at things in a whole new way. if i was at home there would be no way that i’d sign up for an 8-week class in german. here i think “good lord, what am i going to do when those 8 weeks are over? THEN WHAT?? I NEED A LONGER CLASS”

okay, that’s all for now. i’m gonna go tie one on for st. pats =) celebrate well everyone!

being sick on the ice

March 9th, 2006 2 Comments »

well, i’ve been pretty sick since sunday. before we went out to the plane i wasn’t really feeling myself, but i chalked it up to not enough sleep and perhaps the beginning of the crud, but i was hoping it was the former rather than the latter. such is my luck that i ended up with the crud.

monday was nothing out of the ordinary, though i got most of my pictures up for y’all, so that’s good. i wasn’t feeling great, but worked through it.

tuesday was my first day as a GA. well, that was pretty neat. sandy and i met up with lance in the morning. he’ll be our supervisor on GA days. they’re switching us out of the galley as much as they can to help curb repetitive motion injuries. anyways, we got the grand tour of town, and got to check out the power plant, that was wicked neat. we got to see the generators and ask all sorts of silly questions. we have 6 generators, but we only run on 3. just in case you were wondering.

so, after our grand tour, we got our assignment for the day. we were to work with kelley, chris and sarah up at the waste barn. wow. that was insane. we sort our garbage here into about 10 different categories, plastics 1&2, bale-able plastics, plastics 3-7, bio-waste, burnables, mixed paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, non-recyclables, glass, flammables, food waste….and many more in fact. i can’t remember them all without actually looking at the line of cans on the wall. so, our task that morning was to help break all the glass from 14 tri-walls (our big garbage containers that are outside). now, keep in mind, this was the end of the summer season, beginning of winter people taking over, last flight left, and there was a 2-day weekend in there. this was massive amounts of glass bottles to sort/crush. but before all that we first had to take it all out of the tri-walls. so we had to jump into these garbage cans basically, and throw out the bags of glass that were on the bottom. of course, being careful not to cut yourself on the glass on the bottom that was inevitably broken.

that took about an hour just to get all the glass out, and kelley and sarah had been working at this since the beginning of the day, so i don’t know how long the entire process took. after that, we started to sort out the glass and crush it. brown and blue glass gets crushed together, green glass, and then clear. i was on the sorting end of things, sandy did the crushing with chris. we got through it all pretty quickly, by 3pm we had crushed all the glass and were on to bigger and better projects.

we then got rid of a bunch of cardboard, and then went on to the lovely task of actually re-sorting everyone else’s garbage. yes, things don’t get well sorted here, and so if they are in a bag OTHER than food waste, the bag gets broken into and re-sorted. we heard stories of people finding things in the bags and reading them, such as diaries that were broken into 4 parts and they just pasted them back together to check it out. so what we learned was if you have anything important to throw away, throw it in food waste, they never go through that.

as tiring and dirty that job was, it was very enlightening. it really gave me a greater appreciation for everything that people do down here. i mean, our garbage is 70% recycled down here, which is an insanely huge number. and its the people up at the waste barn that really get everything done. kudos to them, big time!

that night sandy and i walked back down to the dorms, and i was really feeling like crap. luckily the next day (wednesday) was my day off, so i was planning on sleeping all day. that didn’t quite happen, but i did sleep until almost noon. then i came in to get some lunch, and sandy was on my case to go to medical. her husband is the doctor. so, i trekked over there, and got some good drugs to help kick this crud. i got some antibiotics, cough supressant and a decongestant. so i took some of those before dinner and then went back to bed around 6pm.

i got up thursday morning for more GA duties and met with lance and jana in the morning. i slept okay, not great, but better than i had since i got here. so, that was cool. i felt okay, but not 100% at all. we did the town tour again, and then ended up going to help the rec department. that was wicked fun! we organized the craft room so that we’d be able to use it this winter. then we had lunch, and then helped organize the bingo cabinet with all the bingo stuff and all the prizes.

most excitingly, we got to help brad pull alcohol and soda for the store and all the bars. the awesome part of all this was that we learned how to drive a forklift. woohoo! jana and i were very excited about this. we got to drive it around the warehouse and learned how to use it properly, and not take things out with the forks. hopefully we’ll be able to work as well under pressure when we actually have to use the fork to pull things. we let brad do most of that yesterday.

then we had a safety meeting with the DAs, and then back to work in rec. we reorganized and cleaned out the rec office with KB and stacey and eventually brad, when he came back and saw that his desk was covered in crap.

then, dinner, didn’t feel well at all, so i didn’t have much to eat, and then went back home and went to bed wicked early agian. i slept until about 9:30 this morning, and i’m feeling much better today. my head is a bit congested, but other than that i seem to be kicking the crud.

i’ll make it an early night again tonight, so hopefully i’ll be back up and running at full tilt next week!

hope everyone is doing well!

sunday boondoggle!

March 5th, 2006 7 Comments »

well, we got to go out on our first boondoggle of the season today. its a bit tricky for us galley folk since we don’t get sundays off like the rest of the town. not to mention that this was the first 2 day weekend of the season. every first weekend the rest of town gets both saturday and sunday off. we do eventually get the day, but just sometime within the month.

i suppose i’ll start with friday. i spent all freaking afternoon in meetings. great way to spend my first day off. then we went out to the mardi gras party at gallaghers. i kept trying to say that i was the designated driver so i shouldn’t be drinking. its an amazing thing to always be within walking distance of 3 bars. you wouldn’t believe the amount of alcoholics down here. i swear that’s half the reason they come here. so, that was fun. burger bar was also going on there, its pretty much the only good place around to get a burger and fries. so that was good. i drank, i danced, i celebrated simone’s birthday.

we ended the night at southern, which i hate doing because then my clothes reek of smoke, but it was too late to argue, and who am i to fight with the birthday girl? =) we came back to our rooms, i took a shower and then fell asleep on simone’s extra bed while rachael was giving her a massage. then i dragged myself to bed and passed out for work the next morning.

saturday was pretty chill, i worked 11am - 8:30pm and then went back home. we were going to go out for mike’s birthday, but thank god that didn’t happen. we were all too wiped out. so we just played some extreme ping-pong in the lounge and watched some he-man dvds. apparantly troy has the whole first season. i’m afraid. it was funny as hell though.

i started to feel a bit homesick and overwhelmed last night. i think it has a lot to do with the fact that we really haven’t had a chance to relax since we got here. it was tough going to work the day after we had just flown for pretty much 3 days straight. i also think i’m getting the crud, so that’s not cool. i can feel it in my throat and i’m starting to cough a bit. i’m trying to nip it in the bud, but we’ll see.

on that subject, we had to come in early this morning so that we could go out on a boondoggle. we were going out to the Pegasus Skiway to see a crashed plane that’s been here since 1978 i believe. its the constellation. i’m unsure of what type of plane it is, but i’m sure you could google it if you wanted to. i missed the lecture about that today, but i’m getting ahead of myself.

at work this morning, rachael tells me that she knows this great homeopathic cure for the crud. so, i believe her. why? i don’t know, at all. she said that if you eat 2 tablespoons (yes, i said tablespoons) of chopped garlic every day that you could fend off a cold and build up your immunity. so, i trot back to the galley and find myself some garlic, and get 2 heaping tablespoons of it, one for her, one for me. i wasn’t doing this alone. she also told me that i should chase it with apple juice, and that if you kinda pour the garlic down your throat it goes down easier. let me tell you, right here and now, SHE LIED. i gagged that down, oh my goodness. i can’t tell you how gross it was, and i like garlic! she was DYING laughing at me, i think she was about to pee in her pants. i was making the worst faces i guess, and boy did i yell at her a blue streak. oh god, the apple juice didn’t help either, i swear. i don’t know what the hell she’s talking about. ugh. never again. i swear that everything i ate from there on out tasted like garlic! even my cinnamon roll that i had for breakfast!

anywho, on to the boondoggle. we got to get out of work for a few hours to go, so that’s awesome. we loaded up into 2 deltas (pictures soon, i swear), and drove an hour out to the crash site. they parked about a mile from the crash and we hiked out to the crash. hiked on a flat, cold permanant ice shelf. it was so weird to think that i was really walking on the sea, it was just about 400 feet below me under all that ice. what a crazy feeling. so, the ride was wicked bumpy, and i’ve been a good girl and drinking SOO many litres of water per day, that as soon as we got off of our delta i had to pee very badly. well, when out hiking, one must find a yellow flag to pee at. ask me how many there were on that mile hike. i’ll give you a hint, NONE.

so we get to the plane, and my eyes are practically yellow. finally i head back to the delta and ask 2 lovely women where the yellow flag was, and they didn’t know either. so they finally just told me to go behind the delta and pee. so here i am, behind this monstrous vehicle with tires up to my chin disrobing in a flash so that i can get my big red and my other assorted winter gear out of the line of fire. i hung them on some part of the delta and popped a squat right there on the tire of the delta. and let me tell you, it was a GORGEOUS day and i was literally freezing my butt off. not only have i walked around on the ice shelf, i’ve marked my territory as well.

we had about an hour to mess around at the crash site, so that was cool. we got to walk around on top of the plane, some people were digging out the cockpit, and we went sledding on some trays that we borrowed from the galley. it was so much fun! i think i got some really good pictures, though i have to figure out how to get them up yet =) its a time issue really.

so, we headed back to town, another hour in the delta. i slept for about half of it, and then made a fool of myself singing the fifty nifty united states song. apparently people from alaska didn’t have to learn that in elementary school. a few of us knew it and we were all singing it. good times! then back to work, and here i am now! and exhausted at that. so i’m going to head back to my room. i’ll attempt to get up early tomorrow and get some pics up. i should have a clear shot in the computer lab because everyone will be at work. woohoo!

g’night all!

first day off in how long?

March 2nd, 2006 5 Comments »

okay, so today is my day off. last night i went to the kiwi base, Scott Base for american night. beers are like $1 american. shots of tequila were $3 and mixed drinks were like $2. it is *the* place to go on thursday nights. i think you can probably buy a whole round for everyone in the bar for under $10 american. sweeeet. let me just say here that i seem to need less alcohol here to get drunk. i’ve been told that it is because i’m not drinking enough water, so i’ll have to keep up with that.

now, seeing as we were out late, and i had some alcohol, i thought it’d be sweet to sleep in this morning, on my day off. alas, that was not the case. i woke up raring and ready to go at like 3:30 am. then i forced myself back to sleep for another hour, and then called it useless and got up. i made a few calls back to the states and tried to get some cleaning done. i’m still moving into my winter room and trying to get everything organized in there. its quite the process. i like the setup of the room so far, but i guess if i decide i don’t like it i have a few months to change it up, right?

so, up early, then i headed over to crary lab to go to the outdoor safety lecture. this makes me free and clear to hike around the marked routes, so that’s cool. yesterday we also had WOST (winter over survival training) - that’s where we learned how to take care of ourselves if we get stranded. we learned what was in the emergency bags and set up some tents and learned to troubleshoot our camp stoves. very helpful!

so, OSL this morning. then i headed over to the galley with jason and travis and grabbed some lunch. let me just say that the food here is really great. the cooks do a great job keeping everything interesting, for the most part. people still complain though, but our boss keeps telling them that the food is free, so they should basically just suck it up.

after lunch i went to try and sort out my pictures. i found someone who has a laptop that will read my card, so he just took my pics and put them on his cards to transfer them to my laptop. however, they’re all out of order, and frankly that drives me crazy. so i’ve been trying to put them back into some sort of order. that’ll be a while.

?hit up the store, since it was open! its open almost every day, but i’m always working when its open. i got a cool new winter hat, just to change things up a bit, and some detergent that won’t eat my clothes. also picked up a fleece sports bra and a really nice McMurdo journal. i’m almost done with my current journal, so i can’t wait to get started on my new one.

then came back over to the galley for meetings on my day off! woohoo! we had serv-safe, and now we have a meeting about what’s going on with our GA duties. fun times. then i’ll grab some dinner, sort the room a bit more, and then head over to Gallaghers for the winter kickoff party - its a mardi gras theme. its also simone’s birthday today, so in her honor i’ve taken some freshies and cut them up to marinate them in?a bucket of rum. mmmmm. so we shall partake in that tonight as well!

?all in all, i’m loving every bit of it here. the work is wicked hard, but i get to see everyone every day. everyone gets to know you alot faster this way, and that’s pretty cool. there’s a lot of really interesting people here. its a great place where the station manager will sit down with the guy who works in the waste water plant who sits with an electrician, who sits down with the doctor. i can’t see that happening so much back in the real world.

?which brings me to that phrase, everyone asks stuff about “the real world” like, where you live in the real world, or what you do back in the real world. its really quite interesting. i mean, i think we’re all real down here, but its still weird to get used to.

anyways, i’m going to get this meeting over with, and then head over for mardi gras. pictures soon, i swear. i’m trying my best, but i want them to be in order for you as well! no sense in you having to suffer through pictures that aren’t in order. i’d have more explaining to do!

hope you’re all doing well, faithful blog readers =)
