eze village, monaco… this one is for jana

first day of school!

ayup, that’s right. today was my first day of classes at trinity college in hartford. go me.

i started off with chaucer - we will be reading the canterbury tales in middle english. i was a bit terrified, shall we say, after that class. luckily i ran into my advisor just after class, and he assured me that everything would be fine, and that i could handle it. i hope he’s right!

i went home for lunch, and then headed back to campus for my 6pm transitional seminar. it’s ‘understanding our global age’. it seems like it’ll be a great class. there is a LOT of reading, but the choice of books is quite interesting. more on that as the class progresses. he’s also making sure we get dinner delivered every week, so that’s pretty kickass, if i do say so myself.

all in all, i’m a bit overwhelmed, but still pretty excited.

that’s it for today =)

That sounds like fun Emily! I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine.

Cantebury tales huh? Is it worth picking up to read individually?

    hey jana!

it is fun, i do love it. i’m sure i’ll be fine…i just need to adjust. and we all know how well i handle THAT.

i love the canterbury tales, and yes, you should read it. but the middle english can be trying. i think you lose something if you don’t at least TRY to read it in middle english. but yes, the short answer was yes. read it!

Hey there! So I put the canterbury tales on hold at the library. I got the Old English version and the standard english translation - however someone likes chausser cause I still haven’t got them yet!

At this rate you’ll probably already be done with chausser when I start - but I’m counting on the fact that you’ll have such a good time with mr. chausser that you’ll remember it all for me. :)

    Cheers and Happy V Day!
